Soul Eater: The Cronouns Edit
so hey I fixed up the Soul Eater anime subs to use they/them pronouns for Crona!
This is mostly based on the official sub, with all translation decisions re: gender-neutral language for Crona as per the Perfect Edition of the manga.
(Brief context: Crona is officially “gender unknown” and is not referred to with any gendered language in the original text, but previous translations were like “but in English we HAVE to use either he or she so we just have to pick a gender for them”. The most updated version of the manga uses they/them for Crona.)

In the linked folder you can download the edit either of two ways:
- video files of all the episodes of the show (.mkv format, 720p, dual-audio although the dub isn’t fixed. tragically beyond my power)
- a folder of just the subtitle files (.ass format) for if you download the video files elsewhere, eg torrent
(either way you can use VLC Media Player for playing the video & attaching sub files)
Screenshot previews:

[“but their blood hardened, and stopped the blade at their blood vessels.”]

[“Stop their momentum, and start attacking back!”]
Enjoy! Please feel free to spread & reupload wherever!

Super happy to share the cover illustration of S.T. Gibson's upcoming urban fantasy book 'Evocation', that I did for Angry Robot Books! 🔮
The fantastic outer frame and all design is by the lovely
Alice Claire Coleman! Very grateful to Alice and the rest of the team for the opportunity!
As you can probably tell, the main inspiration was the Hanged Man tarot card (from the Rider–Waite–Smith deck), which was a challenge in the best of ways!
Palestine فلسطين
My goal with making this post is to use my platform to raise awareness and encourage solidarity and action for the people of Palestine. Over the past few weeks, I have felt powerless to watch the destruction of Gaza before the world's eyes. However, I realized that I still have a large platform despite this blog's inactivity. With this, I would like to share information about Palestine and what you can do to help.
In the above post, I have sought out videos of Palestinian food, culture, art, architecture, and nature to share. Israeli propaganda is trying adamantly to dehumanize the population of Palestine in order to further justify their genocide. Regardless, no matter where you are in the world, humans recognize and understand what it is to be human. What it is to make art, to share food with your loved ones, to travel, and laugh, and sing. To experience heartbreak and hardship, and to experience joy. To dream about the future. To stand up for what we believe in, to fight in the face of injustice.
If you are an American citizen, use your voice to stand up for what's right. Contact your representatives. Demand a ceasefire in Gaza. Boycott companies and celebrities who voice their support of the Israeli settler state. Protest. Donate. Organize. Fight. We are strongest when in community with each other. Our US tax dollars directly fund the murder of Gazan civilians. Make it known that we will not stand idly by while news outlets and propagandists lie to our faces about the atrocities enacted by the IDF and the Knesset.
Here are some links for information on Palestine, as well as places to donate:
- decolonizepalestine - A website aiming to educate and dispel myths about the Palestinian people, ran by two Ramallah residents.
- US Campaign for Palestinian Rights - You can use this website to find groups organizing near you.
- Palestine Action US - The US branch of a directive aiming to dismantle the Israeli military regime, directly funded by the US.
- Hirbawi Kufiya - The last and only Kufiya factory in Palestine, as featured in the gif above. You can pre-order a kufiya which will be shipped once the blockade has been lifted.
- Let Gaza Live: Ceasefire NOW - An easy way to send letters to your representatives to demand ceasefire in Gaza.
- The Palestinians: From Peasants to Revolutionaries by Rosemary Sayigh - A good introduction to the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestine.
- Click to Help - One click a day can help raise donations for the UNRWA.
- baitulmaal - Donate to fund relief.
- anera - Donate to provide hygiene kits for displaced Gazans.
As of October 27th, 2023, Gazans are losing access to the internet. It is imperative for us to share their stories, to continue to remain active and aware of their martyrdom. The IDF will utilize this information blackout to their advantage. We must do all we can. Do not forget the plight of the Palestinian people. Do not allow their voices to go unheard.
From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. 🇵🇸

the biggest problem with writing fantasy in english is that there's really no alternate universe phrasing that carries the exact tone and context to the reader as "jesus fucking christ"
[I.D. tags reading "whenever i run a fantasy-setting tabletop my go-to is that there's a minor god of swearing named jesus christ". end I.D.]
the thing about rhode island is that the locals are so absolutely out of their minds that these slogans from two well known and culturally significant restaurants dont register as something aliens would come up with
sorry to reblog this so many times but a post on this was right, i did forget uncle tony's home of the plumpy

I'm still baffled by RI ice cream stand trend of referring to milkshakes/frappes as "cabinets"
Reblog and put in the tags the longest and shortest your hair has ever been.
700 Palestinians were killed in the last 24 hours and the airstrikes are more violent each night. Gaza's hospitals have fuel left for two more days. Israel only allowed aid into Gaza on the condition they didn't carry fuel. The Indonesian hospital has shut down already, because doctors have no supplies and no choice but to let the wounded die. They're calling it a collapse but the term doesn't do it justice.
Over a 100 incubator babies are at risk. There are 50.000 pregnant women in Gaza right now, and 5.500 due to give birth this month. Menstruating people are taking pills in order to stop their periods, because they do not have pads or water to maintain hygiene. Surgeons are operating without anesthesia. Water is not reaching Gazans because there's no electricity or fuel for water pumps.
There's no excuse for this. Israel justifies the airstrikes by saying they want to destroy Hamas infrastructure and release the hostages, but they have refused to negotiate for their release. Hamas informed Israel they wanted to release two elderly women without anything in return, and Israel refused. Netanyahu said they wouldn't take their own civilians back because it was "mendacious propaganda." When the hostages were finally released, Netanyahu prohibited the hospital from giving press releases. Yocheved Lifshitz went behind their backs and talked to the press anyway, saying she was treated very well by Hamas, but the government abandoned them. They're being used as straw men. Israel is conditioning the entry of fuel to the release of hostages and yet, according to The Wall Street Journal, when Hamas proposed to exchange 50 hostages for fuel they denied. IDF officials have said they fear the release of more hostages because that might withhold the order to their ground invasion. They do not care as long as they can use the hostages as a pretext for their slaughtering.
There's a turning tide for Palestine in public support. Support for Israel was built through decades of propaganda and we are making a dent into it. Zionists are desperate, holding zoom meetings to promote zionism, but we have to do so much more. We have to shame people in power into supporting the Palestinian cause.
Keep yourself updated and share Palestinian voices, looking to inform yourself from the sources. Palestinians have asked of us only that we share, tweet and post, over and over. Muna El-Kurd said every tweet is like a treasure to them, because their voices are repressed on social media and even on this very app. Make it your action item to share something about the Palestinian plight everyday. Here are some resources:

Take action. You can participate in boycotts wherever you are in the world, through BDS guidelines. Right now, they are focusing on boycotting (don't be overwhelmed by gigantic boycott lists. Only boycott additional brands if you can):
- Carrefour
- HP
- Puma
- Sabra
- Sodastream
- Ahava cosmetics
- Israeli fruits and vegetables
- Push for a cultural boycott - pressure your favorite artist to speak out on Palestine and cancel any upcoming performances on occupied territory (Lorde cancelled her gig in Israel because of this. It works.)
If you can, participate in direct action or donate. Palestine Action works to shut down Israeli weapons factories in the UK and USA, and have successfully shut down one of their firms in London. Some of the activists are going on trial and are calling for mobilizing on court.
Call your representatives. The Labour Party in the UK had an emergency meeting after several councilors threatened to resign if they didn't condemn Israeli war crimes. Calling to show your complaints works, even more if you live in a country that funds genocide.

This is an odd post but as someone who has been depressed and suicidal off and on since the age of 13, I don’t love the way people talk about Robin Williams’s suicide without acknowledging the fact he had an extremely aggressive form of dementia at the time he ended his life.
He fought depression and addiction for much of his adult life.
His suicide wasn’t because of the baseline depression he had battled, his brain was quite literally being destroyed at the time of his death. He was helplessly losing bits of himself, his memory, his physical abilities, he was aware, he could feel it and it frightened him. His death should make you angry, not because ‘suicide bad’ but because we are not doing enough to support people with degenerative neurological conditions, it should make you angry that he was misdiagnosed with Parkinson’s and therefore never knew what was happening to his mind.
Instead people make corny asinine posts on the anniversary of his death that say things like “The people that smile the most are often the saddest, check on your funny friends. 🥺” and go back to ignoring mental health for the rest of the year. Completely failing to acknowledge that his suicide wasn’t because he was ‘sad’ it was because he was experiencing one of the worst things a human can experience.
